Other 12 up on sandy Hill, near Bricks bury Hill Road. All looked well.

Wednesday 24th January - All 19 seen

Steers 21, 30, 217, 219, 270 and 271 plus cow 940 were all busy grazing around ///crumb.thighs.squirts at 11.00 this morning.  They were enjoying lots of gorse, grass and heather.  They were all looking well.

The other twelve cows were all found in the area around ///liners.rhino.stack at 11.35.  They were well spread out and were all happily grazing.  The six cows I couldn't find yesterday were with this group, and they were all looking good.  Youngsters 215 and 227 were very friendly today and were both happy to stand and receive ear rubs.  At noon, youngster 220 went and lay down in a big pile of bracken.  He looked very comfortable.

The first group was still in the same area when I was leaving the site just after 12:20.  Steer 30 and cow 940 were lying down, relaxing and chewing their cud.  The other five boys were still happily grazing.

The cows were all good today.

Tuesday 23rd January - 13 seen

After a long search, I found thirteen cows lying down among the trees in the area around ///pass.covers.state at 15:00 this afternoon.  They were sheltering from the rain and wind from Storm Jocelyn.  Most were relaxing and chewing their cud.  Some were having a little snooze.  Youngster 222 was properly sprawled out resting.  They were all looking good today.

After making another circuit of the site trying to locate the six missing cows, the first group had all got up and were grazing in the area around ///hello.twig.poet at 15:50.  They were enjoying lots of heather and gorse.  They were moving in a north-westerly direction, down towards the cow shed.

 

Unfortunately I couldn't find steers 33, 220 and 230 or cows 72, 214 and 234 today.  Sadly, the tracking wasn't working again.  The entire site was missing from the grazing map.

The cows that were found were all good today.

Monday 22nd January - All 19 seen

An extra check today to ensure the cows were all okay after Storm Isha battered the UK overnight.

Steers 20, 21 and 222 were all lying down and relaxing around ///herring.worker.arose at 13:50.  They had all made beds out of some bracken and were looking snug.  Steer 30 was lying down on the other side of some gorse bushes.  Cow 72 was grazing behind him.  This group were all good.

The other fourteen cows were found in the area around ///towels.groom.mild at 14:10.  Most were lying down, realxing and chewing their cud in a big huddle.  Cows 214 and 234 plus steer 217 were standing, but soon lay down beside the others.  Youngster 220 was lying down in a nice sheltered spot slightly away from the main huddle.  Steers 35 and 230 were grazing close by.  This group were all looking well too.

As I was wandering back, I met the first five cows just as they were wandering past Horse Pond at 14.35.  Steers 30 and 222 had stopped and were eating some leaves in the bushes.  The other three started to head south-west, looking like they were going to climb up Sandy Hill.

I didn't really cover much of the site today, but the areas I did visit were all okay.  There didn't appear to be any damage or trees down etc.

The cows were all good today.

Sunday 21st January - All 19 seen

Cow 214 and steers 219, 220, 228, 270 and 271 were spread out grazing in the pasture opposite their favourite Sandy Hill corner at 10:00 this morning.  They were all rather damp, but quickly dried out in the windy conditions.  The others were all buried deep in the gorse bushes behind where the first group were grazing.  They were rather tricky to get at today.  A few came out and said hello before going back into the bushes to eat some more.

Cow 234 plus steers 227 and 230 were found grazing on the slope of Sandy Hill around ///wells.wants.essay at 10.45.  A number of the cows started to emerge from the gorse bushes, stop off at their favourite corner to eat some grass, before wandering along and joining these three.  By 11:35 they were all munching on heather on the slope of Sandy Hill around ///tech.shelf.kilt.

Cows 72 and 215 plus steers 30, 217 and 222 were the last to emerge from the gorse bushes at 11:20.  Cow 30 turned around and went straight back in.  The other four went and stood on their favourite corner, where they started to relax and chew their cud.  Youngster 217 soon lay down.  It didn't look like they were in any rush to walk along and join the others.

The cows were all good today.

Saturday 20th January - All 19 seen

The cows were all back together and were grazing near James Bond pond in the area around ///prove.owls.array at 09:15 this morning.  Most were eating deep in the gorse bushes, but they would come out and say hello before returning to munch some more.  They were well spread out and were moving around a lot, which made things a bit challenging.  I spent close to an hour looking for youngster 219, who was doing a great job of hiding.

Steers 220, 228, 230, 270 and 271 all wandered over to the wooded area at the side of James Bond pond where they enjoyed eating lots of leaves.  Steers 20, 30, 35, 217 and 222 started to graze in the pasture to the west of the gorse bushes.  I broke the ice on some pools of water in this area, and youngster 222 wandered over to take a drink.  I also managed to break the thick ice at a couple of points at the edge of the pond.

By 10:25 several of the cows had started to eat the heather in the area around ///pits.intruded.costly.  Youngster 220 decided to take the weight off his feet and snuggle down in some heather. 

The red scratches on steer 33's rear feet were gone today.  He was all good and was walking fine.  

The cows were all good today.
