Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Friday 16 April 2021

    0900 Fri 16th April 16 seen

As we could see them through the fence we decided to start our walk from lookers map Q23. There were 13 queuing at the lick. The Gelvert 3 were at the other end of Sandy Hill making there way along the top. The other two 020, and 072 were not seen. We walked over to the Ceasers Camp and around the ponds but could not see them. Gelvert 3 had join with the others and were all near the lick. Stay Safe, Marina & Des

    Fence needs checking

Only got a quick glance, whilst driving past, but I think the fence, where a A325 fence line meets the Pavillion fence, needs checking. I’m not sure if it’s been cut or the strands of wire just twisted together.

    Tues and Weds

All 18 found, including the naughty young ones. We led them back onto the correct side of the fence and fixed the broken wire. All looked great if hungry for treats!

    0900 Wed 14th April 6 or 7 seen

Litter picking inside the fence along Bourley Road we saw 6 or 7 cows including the large white. Didn't see hide nor hair of them on the way back. Stay Safe, Marina & Des

    Tuesday 13 April 2021

    Tuesday 13th April. 16 seen.

All seen happy and well, except 194 and 198, up near the quarry lake.  Unusual not to find the Gelvert trio together but the missing pair were nowhere to be seen for quite a radius.

    Monday 12 April 2021

0900 Mon 12th April Six seen

In the snow and fog, strange combination, we found 6 cows towards the end of our walk. 020, 155, 159, 165, 176 and 177 at looker map Q23, searching high and low for food but looking well. No sign of the others. Stay Safe, Marina & Des

    Tuesday 6 April 2021

    Tuesday 6th April

Found all 18 in 3 groups. Gelvert 3 were at the Bourley road GCA/CC cattle grid, after apparently jumping over. Found and fixed the fence.

Next 10 were near horse pond and the other 5 just along the track from horse pond. All well, if a little ticky .

    Tuesday 6th April. Three found.

The Gelvert three were by the Bourley Road/covered reservoir but the others nowhere to be seen. They must have been on the Sandy Hill/ Beacon Hill Road side because I looked everywhere else.

    Monday 5 April 2021

    0830 Mon 5th April. None

From Bourley Road we zig zag our way through the trees and gorse to Horse Pond returning through the midden/dump area to the car park. None seen. Stay Safe, Marina & Des

    Friday 2 April 2021

    Slightly later on 2 April

Saw 10 at S14 mid morning on Good Friday, may be a few had joined since the earlier sighting?

A section of fencing neighbouring Gelvert (at Chugging grant counter) is looking weak and broken in places.  A cow intent on breaking into Gelvert could certainly get over at that point.

    0900 Fri 2nd April 14 found in 2 groups

First group of 8 found at approx L16 on the Lookers map and later at James Bond pond. Second group of 6 at approx S14. All looked well. That leaves 030,165,177, and 196 not seen. Stay Safe, Happy Easter, Marina & Des
