Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Saturday 16th May - All 25 seen

The cattle were seen in three groups and were all good.  Cow 214 has a scrape on her rear left hip which is healing nicely.

At 09:10 - the seven Sussex cattle and youngster 219 - resting on the hillside west of Horse Pond.

    At 10:20 - cows 214 and 234, along with steers 20, 30, 33, 217, 220, 222, 227 and 228 were resting in the grassy area southwest of the Lookout.

At 11:00 - cows 72 and 940, along with steers 21, 35, 230, 270 and 271 were resting on the hillside to the east of the covered reservoir.

They were all very friendly and enjoyed plenty of strokes and scratches as I made my way round checking on them. Several stretched out on their sides to enjoy belly rubs.

All twenty-five were happy, relaxed and looking well.
