Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Thursday 28 February 2019

    Thursday all seen.

Found the whole Herd as one big happy family lying around chewing the cud.
I counted twice to make sure, yes they are all together.
Till I rattled the nuts and disturbed the peace.
Come on up let me have a look at ya

Don’t give me those sad eyes

All moving around ok seemed fine, gave them a treat and said me fair well Tatar for now.

    Wednesday 27 February 2019

    All seen apart from two

Busy couple of days on site with often no cattle visible from the view point or anywhere else for that matter. Army were very active both days. Small herd of 7 youngsters were hiding away today in the corner of A287 & Beacon Hill Rd.

Saw them all today apart from 120 & 127. We will check again this week to looker those two.

    Tuesday 19 February 2019

Full house today, loads of peopke out.

Main herd of 15 on the heather section between CC and GCA divide, not far from covered reservoir track.

Last 5 sunning themselves on the heath banks overlooking horse pond.

All well. Ive been surrounded by long tailed tits, blue tits, gold finch and chaffinch as I write this.

    Friday 15 February 2019

    Friday

All accounted for, 21 had joined a herd and found within the pine at beacon hill entrance end.
All mooching their way through eating pine needles from the wind blown trees.
What a beautiful morning with the sun on the back of the neck and bird song to the ear. It’s great to be outdoors.

    Thursday 14 February 2019

All but 021 found in 2 herds.

Lil'uns found in gorseand heather behind lookout, lick dropped off.

Main herd closest to Beacon Hill Rd entrance. Lick given in heather and bracken between tracks. A lot of traffic today including contracters, army, RAF, and plenty of dog walkers. Couldn't find the main herd during my latter trips around the circuit. Hoping 021 rejoined a herd.

Sounds like Kurt will try his luck tomorrow.

    Thursday 14th

Beautiful misty morning.  Saw 7 little cows at Caesar's Camp in two groups (3 and 4).  Happily grazing.

    Saturday 9 February 2019

    18/20 Saturday afternoon

The vast majority were around M17 for much of the late afternoon, munching on the younger shrubs and seeing well.  I couldn't see 21 and 127.  Lots of people about and three very annoying trail bikes.

    Wednesday 6 February 2019

Wednesday 6th February - Youngsters Found!

Paid another visit to Caesar's Camp this afternoon and it was good to see that yesterday's fog had cleared which made life a little simpler.

After a short search I found the seven youngsters lurking in the woods around 19M all looking well. I put a fresh lick in the woods for them.

    Tuesday 5 February 2019

    Tuesday 5th February.

Only managed to find 13 of the cattle today. There was a group of nine in a clearing in the gorse towards the western end of the site, I put a fresh lick out with them. The other four were down in Long Bottom where I also found half a lick which one of them was having a go at.

The ones that I couldn't find are the youngsters (147, 155, 159, 165, 168, 176 & 177). I'll endeavour to get over there later this week for another look.

    Sunday 3 February 2019

    Sunday morning

With NEWT cancelled, had another go on Caesar's. Found the majority near the entrance to Beacon Hill. There there was a lot of jostling, head butting and chasing around when one found the remains of one of the licks.  The youngsters didn't get a look in whatsoever.  Didn't see 21, 23, 120 or 135.  Seemed as well as possible on a diet of gorse and snow!

    Saturday 2 February 2019

    Zilch

Had a good walk late morning but couldn't' find any cattle, or even signs of them.  Guess they must have been under trees with less thick snow.
    Very beautiful.

    Friday 1 February 2019

Saw just one animal, eartag 021, healthy and happy, munching away, near the entrance from Pavilion Road.

    Sunday 15th September - All 24 seen
