Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Wednesday 13th November - All 24 seen

Steers 21, 219, and 1626, along with cow 72, were grazing near the pillbox at 10:25 this morning. They all looked well. Cow 72 soon took a break to rest in the sunshine and enjoyed a back rub. It seemed likely they wanted to go to their favourite Sandy Hill corner, but the area was fenced off due to the ongoing water pipe works. Steer 21 wandered in that direction, only to stop and glare in frustration before turning back.

By 10:45, a mixed group of fifteen cows was relaxing at the west end of Sandy Hill near ///huts.bring.forklift. Several came over to say hello, all very friendly. They appeared happy, relaxed and in good condition. A short time later, the first four cows wandered along and joined the group. A little later, cow 234, along with steers 222 and 271, began grazing towards the far end of the hill, while youngster 217 disappeared into the gorse bushes.

At 11:00, yearling 270 was grazing along the side of the path at Longbottom, enjoying plenty of grass. Nearby, steers 20, 30, 35 and 227 were munching on leaves in the adjoining thicket. All five were happy and looking well. Youngster 227 came over to say hello and enjoyed a neck rub.

After checking on the boys, I returned to the main group, who were still resting in the sunshine, happily chewing their cud. While giving cow 211 a head rub, I noticed a contractor in a tractor cutting the edges of the thicket down below on Longbottom. The tractor was moving west toward the group of five steers.

The cows were all good today.
