Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Wednesday 17th December - All 25 seen

The cattle were all good in three groups today.

A group of five were happily grazing in the gorse bushes in the thicket to the northwest of the Sandy Bowl.

The seven Sussex cattle along with steers 33 and 219 were gathered on the hillside to the west of Horse Pond. Before I said my goodbyes, they had all settled down in the heather to rest and chew their cud. Older steer 35 obviously wanted some alone time and was lying in the bracken on the opposite side of the path at the bottom of the hill.

The final ten were grazing in the gorse bushes opposite their favourite Sandy Hill corner. Most came out to say hello. By 11:50, cows 214 and 940 wandered off down the slope to join the second group resting in the heather on the hill opposite.

    Full update to follow later.
