Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Saturday 8th July - All 19 seen

The cows were all together at the Shell Garage end of site at 14:45 this afternoon 😄.  Cows 20, 30, 33, 72, 217, 222 and 270 were all lying down resting in the area around ///tabs.tiles.loft.  Cow 940 was standing amongst them chewing her cud.  Cows 214 and 227 were lying down in the area behind this group.   Cow 234 was grazing in the thicket behind those two.   Cows 21, 215, 219, 220. 230 and 271 were spread out, but all grazing close to the lying down cows.   Older steer 35 and youngster 228 were grazing together around ///pedicure.lake.lazy.

After a while, the cows all started to get up, stretch and have a drink of water from the many puddles.  Cow 72 was very thirsty today and had big drinks from several of the puddles.  All nineteen cows then went off grazing together in a south-westerly direction, further down into that end of the site at 15:35.

There were some lovely interactions between the original and new cows today.  Guinevere (214) and Gums (230) had a little sniff and cuddle while grazing close to each other.  Geebe Hebe (215) wandered over to the lying down Guinness (222) and they had a friendly sniff of each other before she wandered off and joined steers Buzz (35) and Gary (228).  The new cows seem to have been welcomed in by the originals and were wandering amongst them without any issues, which was great to see.

There were an awful lot of flies around, which weren't just gathering on their faces but also on their bodies.  The cows looked fairly uncomfortable, but apart from that, they were all good today.
