Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Sunday 12th February - All 17 seen

While walking along the path from the Royal Pavilion to the Horse Pond, I noticed in the distance a number of cows crossing the path ahead of me, having descended from Hungry Hill.

A mixed group of twelve were found in the area around ///caps.flagging.dripped at 11:25.  Youngster 228 was having a drink from a large puddle, while the others started grazing in the surrounding area.  Cows 21, 213 and 235 came wandering along the path from the Hungry Hill direction and joined the others soon after.

The fifteen cows were all happy and continued to graze, ending up fairly spread out around ///cattle.bowls.attic.  In the distance I could hear and then see youngsters 217 and 230 galloping at full speed, their tails held straight out, running down from Hungry Hill about fifteen minutes later.  They stopped in the area where the first twelve were found and had a drink from the puddles before wandering over and joining the others.

All seventeen continued to graze, munching on heather and gorse, for a good half hour before cows 30, 213 and 940 lay down to relax.   It looked like the others were going to follow.

The cows were all good today.
