Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Sunday 15th December - All 25 seen

Sussex steers 210 and 1626 were grazing in the heather near ///pills.attending.farm at 09:45 this morning. Both appeared happy and relaxed. Shortly after, the other five Sussexes were found nearby, foraging under the trees near ///bind.sniff.helpfully. They were all friendly and came over to say hello, with cow 211 thoroughly enjoying a back rub before rewarding me with affectionate head rubs and licks.

Youngsters 227 and 230 were munching on leaves near ///peach.pokers.general at 10:25. They both took a break to greet me and enjoyed back and shoulder rubs. Yearling 270 was grazing near ///croaking.retina.tabs, while steers 21 and 35 were eating in the gorse bushes close by. All five were happy, relaxed and looking well.

At 10:50, steers 20, 30, 33, 217, 220, and 271, along with cow 72, were resting by the pillbox on Sandy Hill. They were relaxing and chewing their cud, all looking happy and healthy. Youngster 219 wandered in from the west, grazing along Sandy Hill as he approached. It's likely he had been with the final group of five cows but decided to join this group instead.

Just after 11:05, cows 214, 234, and 940, along with steers 222 and 228, were grazing on the heather-covered slope of Sandy Hill near ///format.royal.glossed. They seemed to be thoroughly enjoying the plentiful heather. They were all happy, relaxed, and in excellent condition.

The cows were all good today.
