Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Wednesday 2nd July - All 25 seen

At 16:50 this afternoon, all twenty-five cattle were resting in the shade of the trees to the west of Horse Pond. They appeared to be enjoying the cooler weather, made even better by a refreshing breeze that helped keep them comfortable. Most were standing near the water’s edge, peacefully chewing their cud, while a few chose to lie down and rest. Over time, the group gradually moved further west into the trees, with many of the older steers settling down among the bracken.

The cattle were very friendly, with most coming over to say hello as I moved among them for checks. Several happily enjoyed a few strokes and rubs, while others were content to stand close as I helped keep the flies away. They all looked clean and fresh, clearly having appreciated the rain earlier in the day. All twenty-five were happy, relaxed, and looking well.

By 18:20, the herd began making its way out of the trees and across the path to graze in the pasture to the west, where they enjoyed plenty of fresh grass and heather.

It was a pleasure to spend some quiet, relaxing time with them this afternoon and to see them so much more comfortable in the cooler weather.

The cows were all good today.
