Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Saturday 13th May - All 15 seen

Thirteen cows were all together in the area around //perch.belly.tools at 10:05 this morning.  Cows 222, 230 and 940 were busy munching on grass.  The other ten were spread out, all lying down, resting or chewing their cud.  The two newbie yearlings, cows 270 and 271, were lying down amongst the group.  They were together and were lying close to youngster 220.  They were looking well and appeared to have been accepted by the others.

After about 15 minutes, older cows 30 and 35 appeared from a south-west direction.  They emerged from over the small incline, grazing on heather as they joined the main group.  Cow 30 lay down to relax, while cow 35 joined the other three, who were still grazing.

By 10:40 the cows had all got up and were grazing together in the surrounding area.  Again, the two yearlings stuck close to each other as you'd expect, but were grazing as part of the herd.  A couple of the other cows had a little sniff at them, but nothing more than that.

The cows were all good today.
