Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Sunday 14th May - All 15 seen - damaged fence section

Cows 72, 219, 222 and 940 were all munching on grass on Sandy Hill around ///slides.clef.cages at 10:30 this morning.  They were all happy and appeared to be enjoying ths sunshine.  It looked like they were heading for their favourite corner.

An hour later, a mixed group of eight cows were found around ///globe.rules.rushed at the Shell Garage end of site.  Cows 20, 21, 30, 217 and 228 were lying down, relaxing and chewing their cud.  The two new yearlings 270 and 271 were in the middle of the group.  Yearling 271 was lying down under the shade of a tree, with yearling 270 stood beside him.  After a while, yearling 270 cautiously wandered over and said hello.  Older cow 33 was munching on leaves from the trees behind the main group.

Having not found the other three, cows 35, 220 and 230, I wandered back along Sandy Hill and found them with the first four at 12:20.  Youngsters 220 and 222 were munching on grass together just along from the corner.  Youngster 230 was lying down on the corner beside older cows 72 and 940.  Youngster 219 was standing beside them, chewing his cud.  Older cow 35 was eating leaves from the bushes behind them.

I noticed a damaged fence section alongside the muddy path in the wooded area at ///grasp.reception.include.  Unlikely a cow could escape through it with the barbed wire still intact, so not an emergency today, but will need fixing.

The cows were all good today.
