Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Monday 28th August - All 19 seen - Cow 234 has a tick bite on her neck

Cows 20, 21, 72, 220 and 228 were all grazing in the pasture alongside their favourite Sandy Hill corner at 09:45 this morning.   They were all happy and very relaxed.

Older cow 33 was standing under the tree at the beginning of the corner.  He was resting and chewing his cud.  Older cow 940 was lying down, relaxing on the grass on the Sandy Hill corner.  Cows 30, 35, 215, 217, 219, 222, 230, 270 and 271 were all busy grazing in the surrounding area.  They were all enjoying the longer grass.  After a while, they all started to lie down and chew their cud.

British White's 214, 227 and 234 were all grazing a bit further along the path in the Hungry Hill direction.  They slowly wandered back to join the others.

Cow 234 has what appears to be a tick bite on the lower right-hand side of her neck.  It was a little red but wasn't causing her any issues (picture below).

The cows were all good today.
