Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Saturday 26th August - All 19 seen and back together

Cows 214, 215, 217, 234, 270 and 271 were all initially found grazing on Hungry Hill around ///logo.occurs.rear at 10.15 this morning.  They were all looking well.   As I was searching the surrounding area for the others, I could see this six making their way down the side of the hill.

Not finding any others on Hungry Hill, I wandered along to the area around ///scenes.engine.issue at 11:00 where I found all nineteen cows grazing together.  They were spread out, happily munching on the fresh grass in the warm sunshine.  It was lovely to see them all back together and thoroughly enjoying their elevenses.

By 11:30 cows 20, 30, 72, 222 and 940 had wandered off and found themselves standing and chewing their cud in the area around ///dads.gave.dizzy.   Cow 222 mooed a few times, trying to get the others to wander along and join them.   However, the others were enjoying the fresh grass too much and stayed put, causing the five to slowly wander back.

All nineteen joined back up around ///cubs.grace.skips shortly before noon, where they disappeared into the thicket to continue grazing.  Shortly before, there were some playful moments between steers 227 and 230, with the two yearlings coming bounding in to join the fun as well.

The cows were all good today.
