If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Wednesday 26th February - All 25 seen

At 15:30 this afternoon, all eighteen members of Caesar’s original herd were gathered north of Horse Pond. Eleven were resting in the bracken near ///clerk.sparkles.slack, relaxing and chewing their cud. Despite the earlier rain, they were much drier than expected, suggesting they had found good shelter earlier in the day. They all looked great in the sunshine.

Nearby, youngster 220 was lying down to the west, with cow 214 perched on a slope beside him. Youngster 228 was grazing close by, enjoying plenty of gorse and heather. To the north, near ///diver.terms.crisis, steer 33 and cow 940 stood side by side, also relaxing and chewing their cud. Steer 35 was grazing nearby, while cow 72 munched on gorse in the bushes across the path. All eighteen cattle were happy, relaxed, and looking well.

At 16:05, the seven Sussexes were together near ///blink.upper.reddish, in the thicket below the Lookout. They were happily foraging among the bracken. Steers 210 and 1626 had ventured a little further north to graze in the swampy land, enjoying a mix of vegetation. All seven were friendly and came over to say hello. They had clearly spent some time in the gorse bushes earlier, but were happy to have the loose gorse brushed off their backs. They were all happy, relaxed, and in good health.

Just after 16:20, a heavy rain shower passed through, bringing some spectacular rainbows over the site.

The cows were all good today.

    Tuesday 25th February - All 25 seen

Steers 20, 21, 30, 220, 222, 227, 230, 270, and 271 were gathered down by Bourley Road, near ///blur.waltz.blubber, at 15:00 this afternoon. Most were lying on the slope, blanketed by bracken, relaxing and chewing their cud. Youngsters 220 and 230 looked like they had only recently got up and were standing in the sun, chewing their cud. The boys were all happy, relaxed, and looking well.

The other nine members of the Caesar's original herd were happily grazing near ///basics.purses.open, north of James Bond Pond, at 15:40. They were all enjoying plenty of gorse and heather. Youngster 219  was particularly friendly, coming over to say hello and happily accepting a long back rub. Cow 234 made good use of a small tree to give herself a good neck and head scratch. All nine were happy, relaxed, and in good health.

At 16:15, the seven Sussexes were happily grazing in the gorse bushes near ///ratty.robots.figs, west of the water tower. Steers 210, 1626, and 1640 were initially deep in the bushes but soon emerged to say hello. Cow 211 was her usual friendly self, taking a break from grazing to come over to greet me. She was happy to have the gorse brushed off her back before enjoying a long neck rub. All seven cattle were grazing contentedly and looked well.

The cows were all good today.

    Monday 24th February - All 25 seen

     Between 08:00 - 10:45

All 25 have been seen this morning at opposite ends of ceasers camp. The largest group were at the Aldershot end near to ///oasis.calms.wheels they all looked good eating the gorse and holly.

The Sussex’s were at the other end of the camp near to ///escalates.suspended.revamped. I saw all 7 but inspection of 3 of them was impossible as they were so far into the gorse. I tried to get to them but had to concede defeat. They all looked good but as I say close inspection wasn’t possible on 3 of them.

    Sunday 6th April - All 25 seen

All seen good in four groups split across the site. Full details and photos to follow in a while.
