Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Tuesday 11th February - All 25 seen

Steers 217, 220, 222, 227, and 230, along with cows 214 and 234, were resting at the west end of Sandy Hill at 13:05 this afternoon. They were all very friendly, enjoying strokes and back scratches as they relaxed and chewed their cud. Everyone was happy, relaxed, and looking well.

The remaining seventeen cattle were near the covered reservoir from 13:35. Steers 210 and 219 were resting and chewing their cud near the gate to the water treatment compound, with cow 212 lying down nearby.

Further east, steers 20, 33, 228, and 1626, along with cow 1396, were lying down and relaxing near ///tidal.goats.skid. Close by, steers 21 and 30, along with cow 940, were happily grazing.

At 13:50, yearling 271 was resting and chewing his cud near ///florists.shuts.farms, while Sussex steers 197 and 1640, along with cow 211, were lying down nearby.

The final two, steer 35 and cow 72, were grazing in the bushes at the top of the incredibly swampy hill near ///rust.bolt.ditching. As I waded up to check on them, they both gave me a look that clearly questioned my sanity! However, they soon emerged from the thicket to say hello, making the effort worthwhile. All seventeen cattle were content, relaxed, and in good health.

As I said my goodbyes just after 14:10, youngster 219 and cow 940 had settled down beside the group of five, while older steer 21 had found a comfortable spot under a tree.

The cows were all good today.
