Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Wednesday 26th February - All 25 seen

At 15:30 this afternoon, all eighteen members of Caesar’s original herd were gathered north of Horse Pond. Eleven were resting in the bracken near ///clerk.sparkles.slack, relaxing and chewing their cud. Despite the earlier rain, they were much drier than expected, suggesting they had found good shelter earlier in the day. They all looked great in the sunshine.

Nearby, youngster 220 was lying down to the west, with cow 214 perched on a slope beside him. Youngster 228 was grazing close by, enjoying plenty of gorse and heather. To the north, near ///diver.terms.crisis, steer 33 and cow 940 stood side by side, also relaxing and chewing their cud. Steer 35 was grazing nearby, while cow 72 munched on gorse in the bushes across the path. All eighteen cattle were happy, relaxed, and looking well.

At 16:05, the seven Sussexes were together near ///blink.upper.reddish, in the thicket below the Lookout. They were happily foraging among the bracken. Steers 210 and 1626 had ventured a little further north to graze in the swampy land, enjoying a mix of vegetation. All seven were friendly and came over to say hello. They had clearly spent some time in the gorse bushes earlier, but were happy to have the loose gorse brushed off their backs. They were all happy, relaxed, and in good health.

Just after 16:20, a heavy rain shower passed through, bringing some spectacular rainbows over the site.

The cows were all good today.
