Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Tuesday 18th February - All 25 seen

The cattle were gathered near ///kick.barrel.flickers at 12:50 this afternoon. Most were standing in the sunshine, relaxing and chewing their cud, while a few chose to lie down and rest. A small group—cow 72 and steers 219, 228, and 230—were grazing in the gorse bushes to the southwest but soon emerged to say hello. They were all very friendly.

Cow 211 was lying down on higher ground near ///grape.weary.fountain, relaxing and chewing her cud while keeping an eye on the rest of the herd. She was her usual affectionate self, happily accepting neck and ear rubs and rewarding me with gentle head rubs and licks.

As I was saying my goodbyes around 13:50, several others had started to lie down and relax, settling in to enjoy the afternoon sun. The cattle were all happy, relaxed, and looking well.

I was pleased to see no sign of the scratch on steer 33’s leg today.

The cows were all good today.
