The seven Sussex cattle were resting on Sandy Hill near the pillbox at 09:40 this morning. They were all friendly and wandered over to greet me. They appeared happy, relaxed, and in good health, though steer 1640 had a slightly runny nose. Steer 210 and cow 211 were especially affectionate, enjoying long neck rubs.
At 10:05, the other eighteen members of Caesar's original herd were spread out grazing near ///puns.boxer.bunch. Some were deep in the gorse bushes to the northeast, while the rest were enjoying the heather in the pasture. They were all friendly and said hello as I checked on them, with many pausing for strokes or back rubs. Youngster 219 had a cut on his left rear leg, likely from grazing in the gorse. It wasn't causing him any issues, and he was walking normally, but we should keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't worsen. As a precaution, I’ve informed Sean at HIWWT.
The herd continued grazing and gradually moved west, with several crossing into the pasture near ///again.gender.finer by 11:05. However, I noticed that yearling 270 was missing. I returned to the gorse bushes near ///loft.sing.bumpy, where he was still happily grazing. It appeared he was too engrossed in his gorse to notice the others leaving. After a while, he followed me and rejoined the herd shortly before 11:30. Yearling 271 seemed particularly happy to see him.
I said my goodbyes a short time later, leaving the herd content and grazing.
The cows were all good today, apart from steer 219’s minor leg injury.
