Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Thursday 20th February - All 25 seen

Steers 20, 21, 30, 35, 219, 227, 228, and 230, along with cows 214 and 234, were gathered near ///waters.nags.combos at 15:05 this afternoon. They were all quite wet but seemed content. Most were sheltering from the rain, relaxing and chewing their cud, while a few were grazing on holly and gorse. All ten looked well.

Five of the Sussexes were grazing in the heather near ///empty.degree.testy, just north of the covered reservoir, at 15:35. The steady drizzle didn't seem to bother them. Nearby, steer 197 and cow 212 were happily munching on gorse. This group wasn't as soaked as the first. Cow 211 was especially affectionate today, enjoying a long neck rub and rewarding me with gentle head rubs. All seven were happy, relaxed, and in good health.

At 15:55, steers 217, 220, and 271 were found grazing near ///cost.youth.procured, not far from the Lookout. Yearling 271 nibbled on gorse before crossing the path to graze on heather. Youngster 217 was enjoying some heather nearby, while youngster 220 grazed on gorse further back. All three were happy and looked well.

At 16:15, steers 33 and 270 were grazing in the gorse bushes near ///worked.pram.useful. Youngster 222 stood in a large pool of water, munching on long grass to the southwest. Meanwhile, cows 72 and 940 sheltered from the frequent rain showers down near ///quiet.vocab.fried, stretching over the fence to munch on leaves. Cow 72 especially enjoyed having her coat ruffled to help her dry off. All five were happy, relaxed, and in good health.

As I was leaving at 17:00, youngster 227 stood chewing his cud near ///points.oasis.jars. He was very friendly and enjoyed a neck rub. The other nine cattle, along with the Sussexes who had wandered along to join them, were grazing among the gorse and heather to the northwest.

The cows were all good today, despite the wet weather and being widely spread out across the site.
