Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Thursday 24th April - All 25 seen

Youngsters 217, 222, 228, and 230, along with yearlings 270 and 271, were relaxing and chewing their cud near ///grins.printer.apron at 16:40 this afternoon. Nearby, cow 214 and steer 220 were grazing in the bushes to the northeast. Despite there being quite a few flies around today, the cattle didn't seem particularly bothered. They were all happy, relaxed, and in good condition.

At 17:05, steers 21, 33, and 219, along with cows 72 and 234, were lying down and relaxing near ///offers.gums.perfectly. Most were chewing their cud, while a couple dozed in the sunshine. Older steer 30 was grazing to the north. By 17:25, most of them had risen and wandered off to graze in the shade to the southwest. They were all happy, healthy and content.

A little later, cow 940 was grazing by herself on the hill to the southeast, near ///media.rigs.tester. She was enjoying plenty of leaves from the trees before moving on to munch on some heather. She came over for a quick hello before returning to her grazing. While she still shows a loss of condition, she's eating well, moving around comfortably, and seems generally content.

Further northeast, steers 20, 35, and 227 were happily grazing near ///apricot.grub.other. Steer 227 was especially friendly, coming over for a long neck and back rub while resting in the sunshine. The group then made their way toward cow 940, joining her by 17:55. After pausing for a drink at a large puddle near ///hack.diets.fresh, they headed off toward the other cattle still grazing among the trees.

At 18:20, the seven Sussex cattle were well spread out, grazing among the trees southeast of the Sandy Bowl, near ///slurs.drove.duck. They were foraging contentedly in the thicket, enjoying a good variety of plants and leaves in the cool shade. As usual, they were friendly, coming over to say hello and receive a few strokes. They all appeared happy, relaxed, and in good health.

The cows were all good today.
