Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Tuesday 8th April - All 25 seen

Steers 33, 217, 220, 228, 230, and 1626 were spread out grazing in the thicket at the western end of Longbottom at 16:15 this afternoon. Youngster 230 soon came over to say hello and enjoy a neck rub. Meanwhile, steers 219 and 271 were grazing in the gorse to the north, while steer 227 was further still, near the southwest corner of James Bond Pond, happily munching on gorse.

At 16:40, the other six Sussex cattle were grazing near the southeast corner of James Bond Pond. They were enjoying plenty of heather and gorse. By 16.55, cow 1396 had settled down to chew her cud in the last of the sunshine, with the others looking ready to join her. They were all happy and healthy.

By 17:05, the first group had moved to graze near ///grins.printer.apron. Several came over to greet me and enjoy some strokes and rubs. They were all relaxed and looking well.

At 17:45, steers 20 and 222, along with cows 72, 214, 234, and 72, were grazing in the shade among the trees near ///salsa.eagles.coast, at the Royal Pavilion end of the site. Cow 234 had a tick bite near her front left “armpit”, but it wasn't bothering her. The group gradually moved to the grassy patch to the west and continued grazing contentedly.

Older steers 30 and 35 were grazing near ///prop.thin.scouts at 18.15. They soon crossed the path to graze in the wooded area to the south, after pausing to have a good scratch on some trees. Both were happy and relaxed.

The final two, steers 21 and 270, were spotted near ///gala.shift.driveways at 18:30. After a while, they headed southeast along the path, stopping for a drink from the large puddles before continuing toward the Sandy Bowl. Both looked well.

The cows were all good today.
