Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Thursday 22nd May - All 25 seen

Cows 72 and 940, along with steers 30, 217, 220, 228, 230, and 271, were happily grazing to the south of the cow shed, near ///registry.vowed.epic, at 16:40 this afternoon. They seemed to be enjoying the cooler weather, munching on plenty of fresh grass and leaves from the bushes.  By 17:10, they had gradually followed the track along the side of the fenced-off area and crossed into the pasture near ///skirt.doctor.radar. All eight were happy, relaxed, and looking well.

Carrying on the recent trend of finding a lone cow, today it was steer 33’s turn. At 17:20, he was happily grazing in the thicket near ///puppy.tricks.ritual. He soon came over for a quick hello before returning to his grazing. He appeared relaxed and in good health.

At 17:40, steers 21, 219, 227, and 270, along with cows 211, 214, and 234, were grazing at the bottom of Sandy Hill near ///wipes.swooned.gear. Youngster 227 enjoyed a long back rub while grazing. Cow 211 was her usual friendly self, wandering down to the path to say hello, happily soaking up a long neck and shoulder rub before offering some gentle head rubs in return. All seven were happy and in good condition.

As I set off southwest to find the others, cows 214 and 234 followed closely behind. By 18:00, steers 20, 35, and 222, together with the remaining six Sussex cattle, were grazing near ///spans.gaps.comfort. Youngster 222 came straight over to greet me and enjoy some strokes. Meanwhile, the others alternated between grazing and resting to chew their cud. A little later, cow 211 and steer 219 wandered along to join them. The entire group was happy, relaxed, and looking well.

By 19:00, as I was leaving, steers 21, 227, and 270 had moved slightly northeast from where I’d seen them earlier. Older steer 21 and yearling 270 had crossed the path to graze in the pasture to the north, while youngster 227 remained at the foot of the hill, stopping for a final back scratch before I said my goodbyes.

The cows were all good today.
