Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Wednesday 7th May - All 25 seen - Yearling 270 has a huge number of ticks on both sides of his neck

Cow 940, along with steers 35, 217, 219, 227, 230, 270, and 271, were gathered near ///plants.teeth.silver at the Royal Pavilion end of the site at 17:00 this afternoon. Youngster 230 enjoyed a long back scratch before settling down to rest. The others were all lying down, relaxing and chewing their cud. Several were still keen to receive strokes and rubs, which gave them a bit of relief from the many flies. All eight were happy, relaxed, and looking well.

Currently, most of the cattle have a fair number of ticks on them. Yearling 270, in particular, has a very heavy concentration on both sides of his neck. I’ve sent a photo to the Grazing Team to make them aware.

At 17:40, another nine members of the Caesar's original herd were spread out in the pasture near ///bongo.growl.slugs. Most were lying down, peacefully chewing their cud. Youngster 228 was happily grazing on the fresh grass to the northeast. Cow 72 thoroughly enjoyed a back scratch while stretched out in the sunshine, while youngster 222 relished a long neck rub. All nine were happy, healthy, and in good condition.

Older steer 20 had only just got up when I found him near ///taped.thanks.grabs at 18:05. The seven Sussex cattle were grazing contentedly nearby. After a good stretch, steer 20 set off to the southwest, grazing as he went, with the Sussexes following behind. They all enjoyed plenty of fresh grass and leaves from the trees and bushes for their dinner. Cow 211 was especially friendly this evening, enjoying a long back scratch while grazing before rewarding me with gentle head rubs. All eight were happy and healthy.

The cows were all good today.
