Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Tuesday 24th June - All 25 seen

At 07:00 this morning, steers 219, 220, 228, 270 and 271 were happily grazing in the pasture near ///chair.risk.rapid. Sussex steers 197 and 1640 were grazing further south, nearer the path. The boys were all happy, relaxed, and looking well.

About twenty minutes later, a mixed group of sixteen cattle were spread out grazing in the pasture near ///speak.blows.flick. Most were very friendly, coming over to say hello, with a few enjoying some strokes. They gradually grazed to the southwest, getting closer to Horse Pond. By 07:40, Sussex steer 210, along with cows 211 and 212, wandered to the pond to enjoy a long refreshing drink. Before long, others started following them. The whole group was happy, relaxed, and in good condition.

At 07:50, steers 21 and 227 were grazing along the side of the path near ///sock.splinters.depend. They were both enjoying plenty of fresh grass. Both were happy and healthy.

After a while, I wandered back to Horse Pond to find the first two groups had combined on the side of the pond, where most were relaxing and chewing their cud. Several were still standing in the pond after having their drinks. Sussex steers 197 and 1640 came wandering down from the path to the southeast and joined the group shortly before 08:30. I said my goodbyes around ten minutes later, leaving them all relaxing.

    The cows were good today.
