Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Wednesday 11th June - All 25 seen

At 16:20 this afternoon, Sussex cattle 197, 210, 211, 212, and 1396, along with steer 219, were resting in the cow shed. Cows 211 and 212 were especially friendly, wandering out to say hello and enjoy some strokes. Youngster 219 happily enjoyed his usual long back rub.

Meanwhile, steers 220 and 222, along with Sussex steer 1640, were grazing in the thicket to the southeast near ///dress.edges.river. Youngster 222 took a break to enjoy a long head and neck rub, rewarding me with lots of gentle head rubs in return. Just before I left, the group in the cow shed began to wander out and join the others grazing. All nine were happy, relaxed, and looking well.

At 17:05, cows 72 and 940 were happily grazing near ///pushed.cargo.taped at the Royal Pavilion end of the site. Both looked content and healthy, enjoying the warm sunshine.

At 17:15, eight members of the Caesar's original herd had gathered at the eastern end of the Sandy Bowl. Steers 20 and 227 were lying under the trees, relaxing in the shade. It was nice to see youngster 227 settled and peacefully chewing his cud. Cow 214 and yearling 271 were also lying down, resting in the sunshine. Steers 30, 35 and 228, along with cow 234, were grazing nearby. Before long, they too lay down with the others. All eight were happy, relaxed, and in good condition.

At 17:55, the final group of six steers was grazing in the heather north of James Bond Pond, near ///paddle.sake.boast. After about ten minutes, they began to settle down to rest. Despite a refreshing breeze, there were still quite a few flies bothering them. Even so, the boys were all happy and looking healthy.

The cows were all good today.
