At 09:20 this morning, the cattle had just arrived at their favourite Sandy Hill corner after walking along from the western end of the hill. They settled to rest and chew their cud. All were very friendly, taking turns to come over, say hello, and enjoy plenty of strokes and rubs. They were happy, relaxed, and in good condition.
After a while, around half the herd drifted into the bushes to nibble on the gorse, while the others stayed on the corner, content to receive more attention. At around 10:15, the remaining twelve gradually wandered off toward the pillbox to graze, then continued west to munch on the grass alongside the path. They alternated between grazing, resting, and enjoying long neck and back rubs.
Those who had gone into the gorse eventually emerged and made their way west to rejoin the others. By 11:20, the final two—steers 30 and 227—appeared and headed toward the pillbox to enjoy some grass and bramble. When I said my goodbyes at 11:45, a mixed group of twelve were standing peacefully, relaxing and chewing their cud on the grass near ///revisits.study.fizzle. The rest were either foraging for acorns near the pillbox or browsing on gorse. They were enjoying a calm, easygoing Sunday.
The cows were all good today.
