Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Sunday 11 December 2022

Sunday 11th December - All 17 seen - Cows 33 + 221 little red marks just above their front left hoofs

Cows 21 and 220 were seen in the area around ///hazelnuts.suffix.retaliate at 10:30 this morning.  They were hunting for acorns.

Cows 20, 35, 72, 213, 219, 222, 226, 235 and 940 were all grazing in the area around ///feathers.tissue.mini on Sandy Hill a short time later.  Despite the thick frost, they were still able to munch on the grass, with some preferring to pick at the gorse bushes.   They were soon joined by cows 21 and 220 who climbed the hill to join the main group.

Cows 30, 33, 217, 221 and 228 were munching deep in the gorse bushes.  After a while, youngster 230 appeared, having climbed up the hill.  He initially went the wrong way along the top of Sandy Hill but soon stopped, had a breather, turned around and wandered along to join the others who were still happily grazing.

Older cow 33 had the slightest trace of red just above his front left hoof.  Youngster 221 also had a scrape just above her front left hoof as well.  Neither was showing any issues and were both walking fine and putting their full weight on that foot.  Photos below - 33 and then 221.

Horse Pond was completely frozen again today.  I broke the same ice as I did yesterday, close to where cows 21 and 220 were first found.   There were also deep puddles just along from where the cows were on Sandy Hill which had their ice broken to make drinking water available.

All the cows were good today.
