Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Wednesday 14th December - 13 seen

Older cow 20 was found rooting for acorns in the area around ///dark.paper.device at 09:10 this morning.  Older cow 33 was close by doing the same.

A mixed group of eleven were spread out in the area around ///concluded.only.laying about fifteen minutes later.  They, too, were mainly hunting for acorns, with some taking a break to munch on gorse.  They were really going for it and were burying their heads deep in the leaves, leaving only their ears showing :).

Despite an extensive search of the site, I was not able to find the other four cows today - cows 72, 222, 230 and 940.   I went back to where the thirteen were found earlier at about 11:15, and they were still grazing, but the four had not joined them.

Horse Pond was still completely frozen.  James Bond pond was frozen too, and I was unable to break the ice like I did the other day.  There were some large pools of water just along from where the cows were found which I broke the ice on, as well as doing the same areas as Monday as I walked around.  The paths along Longbottom are treacherous with thick ice, so take care if you are walking in that area.

The thirteen cows that were found were all good today.   Hopefully the other four are somewhere nice and warm.
