Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Monday 19th February - All 22 seen

Older cow 72 and steer 230 were standing, relaxing and chewing their cud around ///frail.raven.legal on Sandy Hill at 13:15 this afternoon.  Steers 219 and 228 were munching on grass close by.  Yearlings 270 and 271 plus older cow 940 were happily eating a bit further along the hill around ///tapes.spokes.rags a short time later.  Steers 220 and 222 were relaxing in the sunshine nearby.  All nine were looking well.

The five older steers 20, 21, 30, 33 and 35 plus youngster 217 were all lying down resting in the bracken and heather around ///pounces.flop.puzzles at 13:45.  Youngster 217 was having a snooze while the others relaxed and chewed their cud.  The boys were all good.

The seven Sussex cows were grazing near ///highs.occur.forge down at the Bourley Road at 14:40.  They were all initially munching on gorse, but they gradually came out of the bushes to say hello before starting to relax and chew their cud.

On closer inspection, it appears that all the Sussex cattle had bald patches somewhere on their person today.  Mostly on their necks, shoulders or rumps.  I'm wondering if this is part of them shedding their winter coats?

The cows were all good today.
