Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Saturday 10th February - All 22 seen

The fifteen original cows were found in the area around ///spins.salad.rank at 09:50 this morning.  They were well spread out in little groups.  They were mostly sheltering from the rain in amongst the gorse bushes or standing under the trees.  Steer 35 was standing chewing his cud out in the open, enjoying a long shower.

The cows slowly started to assemble in the area around ///chairs.meals.matter at 10:30.  The continued to graze, enjoying lots of heather.  The rain stopped at 10:50, and the sun came out, causing many of the cows to stop and rest and start to dry out.  They were all looking good despite being very wet.  I said goodbye to them twenty minutes later and set off to find the seven newbies.

After a long and fruitless search of the site, I circled back round the group of fifteen at 12:50.  They were all lying down in the area around ///groups.cabin.heave.  Most of the cows were relaxing and chewing their cud, with a few having a snooze.

After further searching and a trip through Gelvert to see if they had escaped, I finally found the seven Sussex cattle at 14:15.  Six were lying down, relaxing and chewing their cud on both sides of the path around ///fats.effort.comply at the Shell garage end of the site.  Steer 1626 was standing beside then, resting.  All seven cows were relaxed and looking well.  I was very relieved to have found them, even though I had checked that whole area earlier in the day without any success.

The cows were all good today.  Lots of photos today after a ridiculously long search.
