Yearling 271 was grazing in the thicket near ///tint.both.tapes at 10:15 this morning, with youngster 217 nearby. I was a bit surprised to find just the two of them, but they both seemed fine.
Fifteen minutes later, I found youngster 219 along with Sussex steers 1626 and 1640, and cow 1396, grazing near ///puts.ultra.wades. Although the heavens opened while I was checking on them, they didn't seem too bothered.
At 10:45, youngsters 220, 222, 227, 228, and 230, along with cow 234, were spread out grazing in the bracken near ///tricky.wolves.placed. They were soaked, but all looked well. I got completely drenched trekking through the bracken to reach them.
By 11:10, steers 217 and 271 had joined the second group near where I had first found them. They were all still grazing. A little later, the other four Sussex cattle, cows 211 and 212, along with steers 197 and 210, were enjoying the heather near ///else.tank.rivals soon after. They were all very friendly and came over to say hello.
Cow 940 was lying down, chewing her cud near ///proven.tools.dull at 11:30, with cow 214 resting near by. Despite being really wet, cow 214 came over for a back rub. Nearby, cow 72 and steer 33 were grazing, while yearling 270 seemed to be leading the search for acorns. Steers 21 and 30 were sheltering from the rain near ///vest.goal.singer at 11:45.
Despite a thorough search of the surrounding area, I couldn’t locate steer 35. Concerned, I retraced my steps, checking in with each group again. Instead of heading back through the bracken, I checked that group from the Lookout. Interestingly, cow 234 broke away and headed south through the thicket, reaching the main path near ///embers.dull.purse at 12:30, where she started mooing. Worried she was alone, I guided her back to the group with steers 217, 219, and the four Sussexes.
Despite checking all the groups again and searching until 13:15, I wasn't able to find Buzz (steer 35).
The cows that were found were all good today.
