Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Older steers 20, 21 and 35, along with Sussex steer 1626, had just arrived at the area around ///tones.fend.tilt at 16:45 this afternoon. They all wandered into the bushes and began eating the bramble. Steer 20 was doing well today, although there didn't seem to be much change in his injury. The other three boys were all looking good.

Yearling 270 was lying down, relaxing and chewing his cud near ///retail.battle.silly at 17:05. Steers 227, 228, 230 and 271 were all happily munching on fresh grass nearby. Steers 30, 217 and 220 were grazing among the trees to the east, while steer 219 was grazing alone in the thicket to the southeast. They were all happy, relaxed and looking well.

The other six Sussex cattle were found on their favourite Sandy Hill corner at 17:40. Cows 211 and 1396, along with steers 197 and 210, were all lying down, relaxing and chewing their cud. Nearby, cow 212 and steer 1640 were grazing. After a short time, the cows got up and stretched. Cow 211 came over to say hello and enjoyed a back scratch. The six Sussexes were doing well.

At 18:05, the final six cattle were found in the pasture to the north of James Bond pond near ///bill.yacht.tower. Youngster 222 was up and happily grazing. Cows 72, 214, 234 and 940, along with steer 33, were all lying down and relaxing. They all appeared happy, relaxed and in good condition.

For awareness, the recently replaced gate on Sandy Hill still has a chain and padlock on it.

The cows were all good today.
