Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Tuesday 17th September - All 24 seen

The original seventeen Caesar's cows, along with Sussex steer 1626, were found at the Royal Pavilion end of the site at 17:00 this afternoon.

Steers 30, 219, 220, 222, 228 and 1626, along with cows 72, 234 and 940, were relaxing near ///office.aims.doors. Most were lying down, chewing their cud. Yearlings 270 and 271 were enjoying lots of grass in the surrounding area, while youngster 217 was munching in the bramble bushes to the southeast. Older steers 21, 33 and 35, along with cow 234, were grazing in the thicket to the west. Youngster 230 was found resting under a tree nearby, and thoroughly enjoyed a long back scratch.

I initially spotted steer 227 grazing in the thicket but lost track of him. I found him again by the wooden bridge near the cow shed at 17:45, relaxing after a drink. He enjoyed a neck and back rub while chewing his cud. Shortly after, cow 214 and steers 21, 33 and 35 joined us for a drink from the stream. All eighteen cows were happy, relaxed and looking well.

The six remaining Sussex cattle were grazing in the thicket near ///thing.nips.pills at 18:20. Despite the swampy ground, they were enjoying plenty of long grass. They were all very friendly and came over to say hello. Cow 211 was especially friendly, offering head rubs before getting back to grazing. She was happy to receive a back scratch while eating. After a while, all six crossed the path to the northeast and continued grazing on the other side. They were all happy and looking well.

The cows were all good today.
