Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Thursday 12th September - 18 seen

Unfortunately, I didn’t make it out until later, but at 18:15, I found steers 217, 219 and 222, along with cow 234, grazing among the bracken near ///husky.shield.whites. They were all happy, relaxed and looking really well, seemingly content in their own little group.

Cows 72 and 940, along with steers 30, 228, 270 and 271 were grazing in the thicket just below the Lookout at 18:35. As I made my way down the hill, steer 227 emerged from the bushes near ///pool.dote.lightly. He came over to say hello and enjoyed a neck rub before starting to graze along the path's edge. Steer 21 and cow 214 were also grazing in the same bushes. Despite a heavy shower, I made my way through the swampy ground and dense bracken to check on the first group of six cows, and they were all doing well.

Cow 212 and steers 220, 230, 1626, and 1640 were grazing near ///pods.dent.fast at 19:10. They were enjoying the long grass growing around the bracken. Steer 1640 was munching on leaves from the bushes, while steer 1626 wandered over for a drink from a puddle. They all appeared happy and relaxed.

Despite searching until dark at 19:50, I wasn’t able to find steers 33, 35, 197 and 210 plus cows 211 and 1396. Sadly, I started out too late to conduct my usual full search of the site this evening.

The cows that I did find were all good.
