At 09:15 this morning, nine of the Caesar's original herd were grazing contentedly in the woodland near ///form.invested.pods, north of the water tower. They were thoroughly enjoying the fresh grass and browsing leaves from the surrounding trees and bushes. Most were very friendly, coming over to say hello and enjoy some strokes. Youngster 222 was especially affectionate, returning several times for long neck and back rubs, offering gentle head rubs and licks in return. By 10:10, youngster 230 appeared from the northwest and came straight over for a back rub. At 10:25, yearling 270 and Sussex steer 1626 were grazing in the thicket to the north near ///verb.juggler.captive. All twelve were happy, relaxed, and in good condition.
By 10:45, the remaining six Sussex cattle, along with youngster 219, were lying down in the woodland near ///ferried.donor.feel on Gelvert, resting and chewing their cud. They were all happy to be approached, enjoying some strokes, thankful to have the flies brushed from their faces. By 11:15, they began getting up and wandering off to graze among the bracken to the northeast. Youngster 219 lingered, happily coming over for more attention and enjoying a long neck and back rub. In the distance, I could hear the Sussexes' collars activating at the edge of the grazing area, before they turned around and began grazing southeast instead. I said my goodbyes just after 11:45, leaving them peacefully grazing. All seven were content and looking well.
At 12:10, the final group of six—cows 214 and 234, along with steers 20, 33, 35, and 217—were resting near ///louder.prefer.hazel back on Caesar’s. They were lying down, chewing their cud, and seemed much more comfortable in the cooler conditions. Cow 214 soon got up to say hello and enjoy a back rub, while cow 234 was content for me to sit down beside her and brush the flies from her face. By 12:40, older steers 33 and 35 had got up and started grazing to the west.
It was really lovely to spend some extended time with each of the groups today.
I also noticed that the MoD had padlocked the gate near ///flies.swatting.crawled, in the woodland west of Longbottom. I had highlighted the chain and padlock had been removed back on the 12th June.
The cows were all good today.
