Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Sunday 23rd March - All 25 seen - steer 219 has a scratch above his front left ankle

A mixed group of fifteen cattle was found near the grassy patch east of the Sandy Bowl at 09:55 this morning. Most were lying down, relaxing and chewing their cud, while a few grazed nearby. After a while, older steer 21 wandered down the path from the northwest to join the group, while older steer 35 grazed in the bushes near the Royal Pavilion fence line. They were all happy, relaxed, and looking well.

By 10:20, the group began moving west, pausing to scratch against the trees near ///puns.post.issued before foraging in the thicket for a while. I said my goodbyes around 10:40.

The final eight cattle were near ///rejoins.ranks.singer, at the Shell garage end of the site, at 11:10. Cow 234 and steer 1626 were relaxing and chewing their cud, while steers 219, 228, and 270, along with cow 214, grazed nearby. Older steers 20 and 33 were initially grazing in the gorse bushes to the east, but soon wandered over to join the others.

Youngster 219 has a small scratch just above his front left ankle, but it didn't seem to bother him. Otherwise, the group of eight were happy, healthy, and started to settle down to relax at 11:45.

The cows were particularly itchy today, frequently rubbing against trees. Most had a large number of ticks on their dewlap and in their “armpits”.

The cows were all good today.
