Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Tuesday 25th March - All 25 seen

A mixed group of sixteen cattle were grazing near ///unionists.dries.solve, at the northwest corner of James Bond Pond, at 10:10 this morning. They were happily munching on gorse, but occasionally paused to take refreshing drinks from the large puddles in the area. The cattle were all very friendly as I made my way round them, with many enjoying strokes and back scratches. They were all happy, relaxed, and looking well.

A smaller group of seven, including steers 20, 35, 270, 271, 1626, and 1640, along with cow 214, were munching on heather on the higher ground near ///mural.mindset.selects at 10:35. They were all happy and in good health.

By 10:45, the two groups had merged and were grazing on heather in the pasture near ///ideals.desks.memo. Youngsters 227 and 230, who had been grazing on gorse near Longbottom, joined them. They were both very friendly and came over to say hello. Some of the cattle began to settle down to relax and chew their cud.

It briefly seemed like the entire herd would stay together and rest, but instead, thirteen gradually wandered southwest, heading down the hill towards the water tower. Most of the remaining twelve settled in the heather, with steers 35 and 230 continuing to graze before finally lying down shortly before I said my goodbyes at 11:45.

Youngster 217 had a tick bite on his lower-right side, but aside from cleaning it a couple of times, it didn't appear to be causing him any issues.

The cows were all good today.
