Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Tuesday 4th March - All 25 seen

All eighteen members of the Caesar's original herd, along with Sussex steers 197, 1626, and 1640, were gathered near ///vast.twins.mining at 15:00 this afternoon. Steers 219, 228, 270, and 271 were lying down at the side of the path, relaxing and chewing their cud in the sunshine. Youngster 228's front right foot was completely fine today.

Most of the group were resting under the shade of the trees. Some were lying down, relaxing, while others stood chewing their cud. They were all very friendly as I moved through, checking on them. Shortly before 15:30, they began wandering off in ones and two's into the pasture to the south before making their way over to the gorse bushes near ///stamp.trips.will. They all appeared happy, relaxed, and in good health.

At 16:00, the final four—Sussex cows 211, 212, and 1396, along with steer 210—were grazing on the slope near ///soap.glassware.tens. They were enthusiastically munching on grass but took breaks to greet me and enjoy a few strokes. Cow 211, as affectionate as ever, gave me some head rubs and licks before enjoying a back scratch as she grazed. All four were happy and looking well.

The cows were all good today.
