Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Friday 7th - Staff Check, NoFence edited

One of those mornings where I was extremwly grateful for NoFence. First group of 14 were found in a little hollow surrounded by thick gorse on top of the lookout - all sitting down chewing the cud and looking well, but I didn't find them until I nearly stood on one!

Second group of 9 were by the water tower, walking along slowly and grazing, looking well

Steer 30 (Brian) was on his own on the Sandy Hill Estate, but was on the move and in no mood to let me have a closer look, but he was certainly mobile!

Steer 270 (Idris) was also on his own on the map, but by the time I had caught up with him he had found the group on the lookout

I have edited a few points along the Sandy Hill path where the boundary crosses over, but let us know if some more tweaks are needed. There is a ~4m inaccuracy with the GPS/boundary, so places like Sandy Hill, where the cows like to walk along the fenceline, will occasionally have a few blips.

Edit: Saw 30 (Brian) had joined up with the water tower group whilst driving out
