Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Saturday 10th June - All 15 seen

A mixed group of eleven cows were spread out, busy grazing in the area around ///recur.strict.allow at 10:00 this morning.  After a short while, several cows took shade from the warm sun under the trees, where they stood and chewed their cud.  Youngsters 217, 228 and 230 plus yearling 271 all lay down together in the shade.

I was happy to see that nine of the cows had moved out of the sun to the cover of the trees at the far side of Horse Pond when I circled back round at 11:35.  They were all standing, relaxing and looked OK.  Youngsters 222 and 230 were having a swim in Horse Pond and were munching on lily pads 😀.

The final four were found amongst the trees around ///appeal.clean.these at 12:05 this afternoon.  Older cows 30 and 940 were lying down, resting.  Older cow 72 and youngster 220 were standing chewing their cud.  Youngster 220 soon lay down too.  They weren't bothered in the slightest by the shooting, bangs and shouting from the army, who were carrying out some practice close by.

The army had also commandeered the cow shed and were using it to run their operations.

The cows were all good today and were seeking shade from the very warm weather.
