Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Saturday 3rd June - All 15 seen - broken glass picked up from cowshed

Youngsters 220 and 228 were lying down, resting and chewing their cud in the cow shed at 10:25 this morning.  Yearling 270 was lying down just outside.  They were all looking very relaxed.

The other twelve were lying down together amongst the heather in the area around ///example.swing.triangles at 10:50.  They were either relaxing and chewing their cud or snoozing.  They were in a lovely spot, lying down in the glorious sunshine, with a gentle breeze keeping them cool.  The cows were all looking great.

After spending a good while with the group of twelve, I returned to the cow shed, via the car to get a bag, and spent the best part of an hour picking up pieces of broken glass and other rubbish from the floor.  It was shocking how much glass was underfoot.  Gary (youngster 228) was keen to supervise proceedings and showed great interest in what I was doing.  The three cows kept me company until about 12:50 when they wandered off, crossed the little bridge, and started munching on leaves from the bushes.

The cows were all good today.
