Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Sunday 5th November - All 19 seen

Youngsters 215, 217, 219 and 234 plus yearling 270 were all munching on heather in the area around ///fuss.resources.most at 10:25 this morning.  After a short while, they started to lie down and relax in the warm sunshine while chewing their cud.

Older cows 72 and 940 were standing under a tree around ///large.lurching.give just along from their favourite Sandy Hill corner at 10:45.  Steer 227 was standing to the side of them on the path.  Older steer 20 was munching on leaves from the trees behind them.

Steers 33, 222 and 228 were all hunting for acorns in the woods on Hungry Hill around ///blissful.pram.orbit at 11:00.  Cows 214, 220 and 271 were all a bit further east.  There were some motorcycle trials happening in the woods and the cows were getting close to where they were being ridden.  The other four cows wandered along and joined them at 11:35 while I was still searching for steers 21 and 30 who I couldn't find.

Steers 35 and 230 were still off on their own and were found together just along from the Lookout around ///oils.sizes.gong at 12.40.  Steer 35 was lying down in the bracken, while steer 230 was lying out in the open.  Youngster 230 was struggling to keep his eyes open and soon nodded off.

I returned to the first group, who were all still lying down, relaxing in the same spot at 13.15.  From their location, I was able to see some cows grazing on the side of Sandy Hill.  I wandered over and found the missing steers 21 and 30 lying down resting around ///umpires.masks.bake.  Cow 214 was standing chewing her cud behind them.  Steers 33, 222, 228 and 271 were munching on heather close by.  The other five were still in the trees on Hungry Hill.  Cow 940 was lying down, relaxing, while the other four continued to forage for acorns.

The cows were all good today.
