Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Wednesday 1st November - All 19 seen

Youngster 220 was found by himself around ///term.crash.mats at 10:50 this morning.  He'd been calling out as I was walking towards him, trying to find the other cows, but no one was answering.  He was absolutely fine, and he decided to follow me as I walked off to find the other cows.

A mixed group of seventeen cows, including the three I couldn't find yesterday, were all standing under the shelter of the trees around ///ruler.fell.safety at 11.05.   They were all very wet, with some looking rather sorry for themselves.   They were nonetheless relaxing and chewing their cud.   Youngster 220 soon joined them.

After discovering yearling 270 was missing, I went off in search of him.  After a while, I noticed him in the distance, heading further away from where the other cows were located.  He, too, was occasionally mooing, looking for the other cows.   I caught up with him around ///unsightly.evoke.frame at 11.20.   Wanting to get him back to the others, I started to call him and after a bit of initial hesitation he started to follow.  At a couple of points, he decided to go off on his own, but soon came back after calling for him.  As I got nearer the other eighteen, my calls caused them to start walking towards me and resulted in some mooing, which assured Idris he was good to continue.  He was soon reunited with the others, much to his delight and my relief.

The cows were all good today and will hopefully stay together and find somewhere safe to hunker down before Storm Ciarán arrives.
