Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Saturday 19th October - All 25 seen

Cow 72, along with steers 219 and 1640, were grazing near ///slick.roost.mouse by the water tower at 10:00 this morning. Steers 20, 30, 33, 35, 217, 220 and 228, along with cows 214, 234 and 940, were spread out in the wooded area to the west. By 10:30, the group had made their way along to ///binds.humid.states, where they continued grazing. Several came and said hello. Although they were a bit wet from the earlier rain, they were starting to dry off quickly. At 10:40, steers 227, 230 and 271 arrived from the direction of the water tower to join the group. Youngster 230 was especially friendly, coming over for a back scratch. All of the cattle were all happy, relaxed and looking well.

At 11:30, I found the six Sussex cattle near ///recline.cosmic.folks. Most were happily grazing, while steer 1626 was resting and chewing his cud. Older steer 21 was grazing among the gorse bushes to the southeast. By 11:45, all seven had moved to the pasture north of Horse Pond, where they enjoyed grazing on the heather. They all looked very well.

Having not found two steers, I set off in search of them. At 12:20, I ended up back with the first group, now gathered near ///mixes.weds.bugs. Youngster 222 and yearling 270 had joined them. The cows were all enjoying the warm sunshine, quickly drying off, with several beginning to lie down and relax. Once again, youngster 230 came over to say hello and thoroughly enjoyed a long back rub. I said my goodbyes just before 13:00.

The cows were all good today.
