Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Wednesday 16th October - All 25 seen

A mixed group of eleven cattle were spread out grazing on the slope near ///beast.fidgeted.plea at 16:45 this afternoon. Steers 20, 30, 33, 35, 219, 220 and 227, along with cows 72, 214, 234 and 940, were all happy, relaxed and looking well. Several wandered through the bracken to say hello, with cow 214 being particularly friendly and enjoying a back scratch.

Sussex cow 1396 was grazing alone near ///lunge.grunt.crows just before 17:10. Despite being on her own, she was absolutely fine. She came over to greet me and enjoyed a back rub while grazing.

Steers 21, 217, 222, 228, 230, 270 and 271 were grazing near ///searches.helps.haunt at 17:15. Steers 21, 217 and 230 were munching on leaves from the trees, while the yearlings grazed nearby. Youngsters 222 and 228 were grazing on the far side of the path. It looked like contractors had been clearing scrub near ///pints.pets.nips, as smoke from a fire was still visible. The boys were heading in that direction as I left.

On my way back to the Lookout, I saw cow 1396 again near ///ruby.banks.spans, seemingly heading to meet up with the boys.

The four Sussex steers — 197, 210, 1626 and 1640 — were grazing in the pasture to the north of the covered reservoir near ///represent.written.supple at 17:35. They were enjoying lots of long grass and heather. Sussex cows 211 and 212 were grazing near the fence on the northeast side of the reservoir at 17.50, happily eating lots of grass. Cow 211 was her usual friendly self, giving me a few head rubs and licks.

The cows were all good today.
