Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Sunday 20th October - All 25 seen

A mixed group of twelve cows were sheltering from the rain near ///lives.muted.strange at 09:40 this morning. They were spread out among the trees and bushes on both sides of the path, slowly making their way toward the water tower. Steers 20, 33, 35, 217, 220, 222, 227, 228, 230 and 1640, along with cows 214 and 234, were all soaked but seemed happy and in good health.

By 10:15, steers 30, 219, 270 and 271 were standing in the rain on the corner near ///kipper.plump.cobbles, waiting for cows 72 and 940, who were munching on leaves nearby. After a few minutes, they all gathered and followed the path down to the wooded area where the other cows had been grazing. They quickly took cover under the trees before wandering along and joining the rest of the group who were sheltering from the heavy rain near the water tower.

At 10:45, I found Sussex 210 steer grazing by the path near ///treaty.spillage.detail on Longbottom. The other five Sussex cattle were climbing the track toward Sandy Hill. After resting briefly, they began grazing as they moved west. Despite being drenched, cow 211 was her usual friendly self, insisting on giving me some gentle head rubs. After a while, I returned to the slope and spotted steer 21 at the bottom, munching on leaves. He was fine, just lagging behind the others as he had done yesterday. All the cows looked well.

The cows were all good today.
