Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Happy New Year!

Steers 33, 217, 219 and 270 plus cow 215 were all happily munching on heather in the area around ///timer.blazing.roosts at 10:55 this morning.  Steer 228 was near by, eating in some gorse bushes.  There was no sign of the red scratches on older steer 33 or yearling 270 today.

Older steer 21 and youngsters 222 and 230 were grazing on the lower ground around ///trickster.send.minus.  Youngster 227 was a bit further east and was grazing in some thicket at the side of the path.

Older steer 30 was lying down in some bracken around ///spend.sharpens.hoot at 11.40.  Steers 20 and 35 were grazing in the thicket close by.  The area they were in is very swampy, but the boys were navigating it fine.

Cows 72 and 940 were lying down resting around ///skies.wiping.cars at the side of the covered reservoir ten minutes later.  They were both chewing their cud.

After a good look around the area by the reservoir and finding no more cows, I started to climb back up the hill and was met by youngster 219.  He had decided to switch groups and was wandering down, grazing as he went.  After completing the climb and returning to the first group, who were now in the area around ///power.wolves.piled at 12:15, cow 214 had joined them.  The cows had started to lie down and relax.

Forty-five minutes later, following a thorough search of the surrounding area including around James Bond pond, I circled back around to the first group again and the missing three had joined them.  Youngster 220 and yearling 271 were lying down, relaxing and chewing their cud.  Cow 234 was standing, chewing her cud.  I would love to know where they had been 🤔.

As I was leaving, steers 20, 21, 30, 222 and 227 were all lying down together, in the area where steer 30 had originally been found.  Steers 35, 219 and 230 were still wading through water and mud, grazing.

The cows were all good today.
