The cows were still in the same two groups as at the weekend.
Cows 30, 72, 215, 217, 219, 230, 234 and 271 were all lying down, relaxing and chewing their cud in the sunshine at 12.40 this afternoon. They were in the area around ///rock.songbook.form not far from Horse Pond. Most had made beds out of heather or bracken and were looking very snug.
The other eleven were all lying down and relaxing in the heather in the area around ///sock.interacts.thin not far from James Bond Pond at 13:15. They were well spread out, sitting in little groups. Most were chewing their cud, with a couple resting their eyes. Older cow 940 had been up and about munching on heather as I was walking towards them, but soon lay back down to rest. They were all looking good.
Both Horse Pond and James Bond Pond were frozen today, but I broke the ice at the edges at various points. I also broke the ice on numerous puddles as I walked around the site.
The cows were all good today. It was nice to see them happy and relaxed despite the current cold snap.
For awareness, the cattle tracking has been fairly intermittent over the last week. When on site today, it wasn't working at all, even when I was standing with the cows. It wasn't even showing the Caesar's grazing boundary on the map, despite using two different mobile networks (same from home broadband).
