Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Wednesday 17th January - All 19 seen

Cow 72 plus steers 217 and 271 were standing relaxing and chewing their cud in the area around ///robots.void.voltages on Sandy Hill at noon today.  Despite it being bitterly cold, they were all looking well.  Cows 215 and 234 plus steers 30, 219 and 230 were all standing in the area around ///knees.pixel.posed at the bottom of the hill.  As soon as I broke the ice on the puddles beside them, most took a drink.  Youngster 219 was standing beside some trees just off the path and looked to be keeping his feed warm in some bracken.

Just after 12:20 the group of three wandered down and joined the others.  All three had a drink.  After a short while, all eight crossed over and started to eat the heather in the pasture to the north-east.   There was some military training going on close by, but the cows weren't bothered in the slightest.

The group of eleven were found in the area around ///sung.dare.delays at 12:45.  Steer 33 was standing, relaxing under some trees.  Steers 20, 21 and 35 plus cow 940 were eating in the gorse bushes.  Youngsters 214, 220, 222, 227 and 228 plus yearling 270 were all eating at the side of the main path.  The cows slowly made their way through the thicket and out the other side into the area around ///streak.grafted.soap where they continued to graze.  Youngster 228 was the first to lie down and relax at 13:15.  Steer 33 soon joined him.  It looked very much like the others were going to do the same soon.

Returning to the first group, and they were still in the area around ///fuse.stay.sandwich at 13:30.  Cows 215 and 234 plus steers 219 and 230 were lying down relaxing.  The others were still grazing close by.

The cows were all good today despite the very cold conditions.
